Zum Inhalt

This article has taken a look inside the Crimean Tatar ethnic minority in the realm of religion to analyse new religious circumstances, in which this group finds itself. It is also done to answer the question of whether new Crimean Tatar religious actors have influenced the state's approach toward their ethnic group, and if so, what does this influence consist of? Almost 40 interviews conducted in Kyiv and in Crimea throughout April-May 2010 delivered ample findings for this article. Interviewed were particularly key members of the Mejlis, the Crimean Muftiate and Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami. This article is based on the master's thesis of the author.
